Hands down the best part of photographing weddings is the unexpected variables on the wedding day. By and large wedding timelines go something like this: getting ready, ceremony, portraits, family photos, dinner and dancing. How each of those elements of the day takes place–how they get colored–that is where you’ll find the fun.
Dina & Eli’s eclectic and elegant wedding day was packed full of these unexpected and incredibly fun-to-photography moments. Dina got ready in her childhood home: a classic bungalow in Chicago with knick-knacks and vintage wall paper to go with it. Then there was Uncle Mike’s Place, a humble diner on the near-west side of Chicago. To be honest, we’re sometimes skeptical photographing in restaurants because there can be limited light and tough obstacles to work with. However, in the back there was a cafeteria-styled dining area with fruit-covered tile…enough said! We love those portraits! Then Uncle Mike fed us steak :)
To add to our photography delights, Dina & Eli had their reception at the vintage resale warehouse Salvage One in Chicago’s west side, and Cat Fight–an all female 80’s/90’s band–played for their dancing. Here’s to doing ordinary things the unconventional way.
